Fire Service donates resource packs to local charities

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service is upcycling a number of its resource and resilience packs that are hoped will be beneficial to local charities and groups across Tyne and Wear.

The packs would usually be used by firefighters during incident and training purposes but are no longer required.

The contents include: wet weather kits ponchos and trousers, waterproof overalls, rubber footwear and a single use towel.

Andy Lillford, Head of Resilience for Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, said:

“The resilience packs have formed an integral part of our kit bags for many years with these particular versions no longer being required.  But instead of them being discarded we wanted to upcycle the items and provide them to local charities who may find them useful for their day-to-day activities.

“We are confident that people can be creative in their thinking of how the packs can be used. They could be ideal for people running a community garden project, a homeless charity, resources for a summer camp, or an outward bounds course. The sky’s the limit.

“Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service plays a very active role in the local community and we hope these donations will be well received.”
