Safe and Well

A fire doesn’t have to kill you to take your life. Fires can develop and spread quickly, producing heat and large amounts of thick smoke and fumes.

As the majority of fire deaths and injuries happen in the home, we need to make our homes as safe as possible:

  1. Follow our advice for preventing fire at home
  2. Fit smoke alarms and test them regularly
  3. Plan your escape route
  4. If you have a disability, consider what extra precautions you may need to take
  5. Use our virtual tool for a home safety check
