TWFRA IRMP Response Consultation period to be extended

At today’s December Tyne and Wear Fire Authority meeting, members agreed to extend the IRMP Response consultation period for a further two weeks, until January 28^th.

Barry Curran, Chair of the Fire Authority commented:

“We have listened to representations from members of our communities and our staff who asked us to consider an increase in the consultation period. Primarily this is due to the Christmas period falling within the 10 weeks. We have listened to their concerns and have agreed to extend the consultation until January 28th, instead of January 14^th“

The rest of the timetable will continue as planned and should the Fire Authority agree to the proposals, they will start to be implemented from April 2019.

Barry continued:

“We very much hope that this extension will encourage more people from Tyne and Wear to participate in the consultation and to provide us with their views and potential alternative proposals.”
