Do you know what to do if someone falls into deep water? Immediately ask for help — Call 999
Call 999 immediately (ask for Fire and Rescue or Coastguard).
Give your exact location using landmarks or What3Words.
Stay on the line and provide updates.
Shout for help to alert others.
Never enter the water or put yourself at risk.
Instruct the person calmly by shouting “swim to me” or “float on your back like a starfish”.
Use lifesaving equipment, including lifebuoys, throwlines, or floating objects. If there is no equipment available, use other objects like a ball.
Seek professional medical help even if you rescue someone from the water.
Remember, if water has already entered a person’s lungs, drowning can occur at a later stage.
