What is Safeguarding?
Safeguarding involves protecting individuals’ health, well-being, and human rights, ensuring they are safe from abuse and neglect. We recognise the importance of working collaboratively with other safeguarding agencies to reduce risks for those most vulnerable.
Our Commitment
At Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, safeguarding procedures are in place to protect both our communities and employees. Our role extends beyond fire safety, encompassing safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults to ensure they live free from harm, abuse, and exploitation.
We actively participate in Safeguarding Boards and Partnerships across Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, and Sunderland. These partnerships strengthen our safeguarding practices, enhancing support systems that protect adults and children at risk across the region.
