Body worn camera captures moment a firework was aimed at crew

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service has shared footage captured when a firework was aimed at firefighters on bonfire night.

The crew had been called to a bonfire in South Shields. As unclean materials including children’s toys were being burned and there were no responsible adults present, the firefighters decided that the safest option was to put the bonfire out.

Their decision was met with hostility from the youths in the area and a firework was aimed at the crew.

The officer in charge then requested police attendance.
