Many young people have a fascination with fire, but for some, this fascination can take a dangerous turn and lead to fire-setting behaviour. Our Fire Safety Interventions programme is a free service designed to educate and deter children and young people (ages 3 to 17) from engaging in fire-setting behaviour.
How Can We Help?
Our trained practitioners work in pairs to build trust with young people and their carers, using education and understanding rather than fear or scare tactics.

What are the Signs of Fire-Setting Behaviour?
- Burn holes in curtains, carpets, or clothing.
- Charred paper in sinks or wastebaskets.
- Matches or lighters hidden in bags, drawers, or under beds.
- Unexplained burnt objects in or around the home.
- Burns on windowsills or furniture.
- The smell of smoke on clothes or in the home.
- An unusual fascination with fire.
- Unexplained fires in or near your home.
Need to Make a Referral?
Intervention can only take place with permission from the parent or guardian, but anyone can refer a child or young person to our programme, including parents, carers, teachers, social workers and others.
