Fire stations
Byker Community Fire Station covers areas of both Newcastle and North Tyneside Councils.
The main response for water incidents and floods is based here and operational staff are trained as swiftwater rescue technicians. Equipment includes a fireboat for use on the River Tyne as well as smaller emergency rescue boats which attend incidents on the River Wear and other inland water risks.
There a 42 seat auditorium with presentation facilities avaliable for community groups to hire at a cost.

The geographical area served by Gosforth Community Fire Station varies greatly, from relatively affluent residential to areas of social deprivation.
It also includes Newcastle International Airport which continues to grow and expand its business base with recent terminal building developments.

Based on the western boundary of the city, the area covered by Newcastle Central Community Fire Station is the most diverse in the fire service.
It serves:
- two major hospitals
- a large indoor shopping complex
- a football stadium with a capacity for 55,000
- a variety of Metro and rail stations and track
- other typical city centre risks, including hotels and high rise buildings
Its community safety centre offers a 60 seat auditorium with IT presentation facilities and a meeting room, as well as facilities for Fire Cadets.
