Sunderland district has seen big reductions in most of our fire statistics over the last few years, but there are still issues we need to address.
To identify those who are most at risk from fire, we work closely with Sunderland City Council, the NHS, social services and other agencies to offer practical support to our residents.

Fire stations
Staff based at Farringdon Community Fire Station have a good working relationship with the community. We collaborate with Northumbria Police, Sunderland City Council and community representatives to identify where anti-social behaviour is a problem.
Northumbria Police Southern Area Command West Neighbourhood Police Team are now based and operating from the station. Their office for general enquiries is open 10am to 2pm.
Farringdon’s community safety centre offers a 60 seat auditorium with presentation facilities and a meeting room.
The Prince’s Trust Team Programme is hosted at this station.

Marley Park Community Fire Station serves a range of domestic properties, as well as the Stadium of Light, Monkwearmouth Hospital and parts of Sunderland University.
It has a 60 seat auditorium available for hire.

Due to its location on the south west extreme of the Sunderland area, Rainton Bridge Community Fire Station serves parts of County Durham.
The station is a shared location with North East Ambulance Service.

Washington Community Fire Station serves mostly residential communities, as well as Nissan – the largest vehicle manufacturing plant in Europe.
North East Ambulance Service shares the station, hosting 2 appliances there.
It also has full community safety facilities, including a 60 seat lecture room.
